Master Shot

For our master shot assignment it fell upon me to be in charge of the sound, and as such I am expected to contribute my ideas regarding this area.  Along with being in charge of sound, I also took on the responsibility of creating the storyboards for the project.  Being this early into the preproduction stage any ideas regarding sound are subject to change.  However there are a few things that I need to take care of for the final presentation, one of them being the sound of a socket wrench cranking.  I also need to look into the sounds of footsteps and heavy breathing.  One can get a basic idea of how the sound will operate by looking at the storyboards.  The storyboards were much more time consuming than I had originally realized, and took carful planning to complete.  Despite this in the end they turned out great, with a clear understanding of how the narrative will flow.

Interview Sessions

Unlike our previous filming sessions, the weather on the day we shot was very nice.  The light was great, and there were plenty of people on the street.  For the first halve of the day we decided to add on extra footage for our b-role, this is mainly due to the dreaded weather we were plagued with the previous week.  We were able to get some great shots that will look great in our final presentation.  Before we started I was expecting people to be very willing to be filmed in front of a camera, this was not the case.  Few people seemed to be interested.  Despite this we were able to get several great interviews with multiple viewpoints.  In the case of our expert interview I was unable to attend, because of class interference and our expert having such a busy schedule.  The only time our group was able to get the interview was on Monday at one O’clock.  Hearing from the group via email, I was informed that the interview went well and everything had been taken care of.  As of right now the only thing remaining is the editing, which is my job.  Despite having very little experience using video editing software I am relying on tutorials and lectures to show me the basics that I need to know.

Current Schedule

As for our current schedule we should have most of the documentary done by the end of next week.
As of right now the plan is to film on Saturday to collect B roll.  We are also holding our interviews on the following day.

Documentary Assignment

For our documentary assignment we decide on the prompt, Film equals jobs.  Luckily Jacob was able to get one of his friends, who works at screen gems studios to take some time off to answer a few of our questions.  During our interviewing session we will be able to ask him an assortment of questions relating to the subject, and how film has opened up countless jobs in the Wilmington area.  Being that many of our photos taken were focused on the buildings in Wilmington, our b-roll footage should hold a similar subject.  By doing this many of our vox-pops will be able to take place in the same general area as our previous photos.  The questions we will be asking our expert should cover a variety of aspects related to job development in Wilmington, North Carolina.
            These may include:
·      Why Wilmington is often targeted as an appropriate place to film?
·      What are some of the benefits of having multiple film companies working on the opposite end of the country from Hollywood?
·      How is the film industry helping to improve Wilmington North Carolina?
·      What are some of the advantages to films being made in Wilmington as oppose to other cities?
·      How can the film industry help to create work for people who do not work in the film industry?
·      How have the massive amounts of money spent on making films helped Wilmington North Carolina?
·      How does Screen Gems as a company help to pump money into Wilmington?
·      How has the film industry changed Wilmington in the recent decades?
